Government plans to relax Sunday trading laws

Government plans to relax Sunday trading laws in England and Wales have been put on hold, after SNP opposition meant it faced defeat in the Commons. The SNP had said it would vote against the changes amid fears it could drive down Scottish workers’ wages even though there are no country-wide restrictions on Sunday trading for Scotland.
With other opposition MPs expected to join forces with some 20 Tory rebels, the plans would have struggled to pass. Scotland
